Congratulations to our boys' basketball team for progressing to the Division 3 State Basketball Tournament!!
The excitement surrounding our school and students when any of our teams progress to State Level Competition is great and positive for our community. However, the logistics of how the tournaments are organized, coupled with students, staff, and community desires to attend these competitions can be a challenge for the operations of a school district. The purpose of this memo is to clarify how the district will address attendance issues for our Pre K-12 students since our high school boys’ basketball team qualified for the W.I.A.A. Division 3 semifinal game scheduled at approximately 10:45 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014.
High School Students
High School Students will report to school on Friday, March 14, 2014 as normal. Those students who wish to attend the game will be released at 8:30 AM to travel to the Kohl Center. We are discouraging the use of private vehicles due to limited parking around the Kohl Center and will provide spectator buses for students. Students will need to have a ticket prior to boarding the bus. Those students that do not wish to attend the game will be allowed to remain at the high school and will be provided supervision by staff in the LMC, commons or classrooms to work on assigned work or to watch the game on TV, if they so desire.
Following the conclusion of the game students who attend the game will be transported back to the high school. The bus will stop somewhere for lunch on the way home from the game (or students can bring a sack lunch which they will need to leave on the bus). When students return back to school they will be dismissed for the day. Students who need to catch a bus to get home will report to the commons until the end of the normal school day.
Students will need to sign up for the buses in the high school office by the end of the day on Wednesday, March 12. There will be no fee to ride the bus.
Pre K-8 Students
We will not be doing a general release of students in pre-school through eighth grade. However, parents who wish to have their child attend the game with them or with friends may request, in writing, that their child be excused to attend the game as well. This request needs to be turned in by 8:00 AM on Wednesday to your child’s school office. A form will be sent home with each Pre K-8 student on Monday for you to complete or it can be found on your school’s website.
The school has been allotted approximately 1000 tickets to sell for the Lodi section of the Kohl Center. Tickets will be on sale in the High School Office starting Tuesday morning, March 11. All tickets are $10. We will be requesting more tickets from the WIAA on Monday and hope to have them available on Tuesday. We will need to complete the sale of tickets by 12:00 PM on Thursday, as the high school is required to turn in all unsold tickets to the Kohl Center by Thursday afternoon. The HS office will sell tickets at the following times:
Tuesday 6:30 AM-6:00 PM
Wednesday 7:00 AM-6:00 PM
Thursday 7:00 AM-12:00 PM
Tickets are also available on-line beginning Saturday night (go to www.wiaawi.org } SPORTS} Boys Basketball} State Basketball Tickets -look to the left). The on-line ticket center will identify the corner of the Kohl Center where the Lodi crowd will be seated. The Kohl Center Ticket Office will not be open for ticket sales. All tickets purchased prior to Thursday, March 13 will need to be purchased at the school or online. The WIAA highly recommends that everyone who plans on attending the game purchase a ticket prior to Friday morning session.
If the team is fortunate enough to win their game on Friday morning, they would play in the state championship game at approximately 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 15. Tickets for this game will be sold immediately after Friday’s game at the Kohl center or will be available on-line at www.wiaawi.org. We are not allowed to bring tickets back to the community and sell them for this game.
State Tournament Boys Basketball t-shirts will be sold through 11:00 AM Tuesday morning for pick up in the high school commons between 3-6 PM on Thursday, March 13. All proceeds from the sale of the t-shirts will benefit the Lodi High School Basketball program. The shirts are available on-line at lodibasketball.cms-4youshop.com.
